Our primary focus is anything with a blade, including folding (or pocket) knives, fixed blades, machetes, multitools and even kitchen knives.  Through our team of experts we provide reviews, education and advice to assist consumers in making informed choices.  Knife Informer is owned and operated by NameBubble LLC, a company founded in 2008.

The Team

Founder/Editor-in-Chief – Donald Davidson

Donald is the creator of Cielo and long time outdoor and knife enthusiast based in California.  I remember getting my first knife as a teenager, a beautiful folding hunter which was swiftly followed by the classic Swiss Army knife.  From then on I discovered great brands like Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw and I was hooked.  After that I began collecting and testing more expensive higher-end mid-tech knives from brands like Shirogorov, Chris Reeve, Todd Begg and Reate.

As I was able to afford more knives I found myself becoming more of a collector or enthusiast in many ways.  I was eager to try different types of knives and see what the many different knife manufacturers had to offer.  I began comparing and figuring out which were the “must have” knives and which were the ones to steer clear of.  Now I’m older (and wiser!) I feel like giving back to the community and sharing my knowledge with you.

Sure, there is a ton of information out on the internet if you look hard enough…still, I wanted to pull it all together in one place and provide the public with a place to get decent, honest pocket knife advice from someone who knows what they’re talking about.  There are some first class knives available in today’s market for very reasonable prices but the market is also filled with worthless junk.  My goal is to point you in the right direction and avoid making the mistakes I did many years ago.

James McTominay

James is a gadget guy and all-round EDC fanatic, particularly when it comes to knives.  He’s extremely fluent in the crowded middle-market segment where companies like Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw and Buck slug it out every day in a bid to get their products into the hands of the everyday man who needs a good knife.  Through years of using and evaluating knives James knows exactly what to look for in determining whether a knife is worthy of recommendation or just ‘okay’.

Mason Bull

Mason is a modern day family guy, who started life early on as a musician, and continues that passion. But, with the everyday life of locksmith work by trade, he’s found knives as a hobby that has piqued his interest to a level of constantly looking for the next knife to critique. As a Spyderco fan first, and now barreling deeper in the knife world into all available brands, he’s ready to take on the next knife with excitement, every time.
